Akshay Kumar star Raksha Bandhan has never scored in multiplexes because the subject matter feels too dated and the treatment feels clichéd. On top of that clash with Aamir Khan star Laal Singh Chaddha, he split his earnings by at least 25%.
The film did not open well, then it did not push on the first day. The film collected a measly 8.20 cr nett on its first day, which was the actor’s lowest debut of the year behind Bachchan Pandey and Samrat Prithviraj. The film received mixed reviews and urban markets were always supposed to be loath for it, so the growth didn’t happen despite the bad day.
The film collected 6.40 cr nett on day two, a drop of 23%. The film was expected to jump big today as the holiday effect kicked in, but the film failed to do so. According to the first trends, the film should collect 6.51 cr net, which is still mediocre.
The film remained flat again on Sunday and did not arouse any surprises. Film managed below par 7.05 cr net. Film released again Monday and Tuesday which is shocking, it collected 6.31 and 1.60 cr net. Even on Wednesday, the film could not maintain its stability and collected only 1.35 cr.
The film has a 7 day total of 37.42 cr net, which is still below par. The movie has to hold tomorrow for any chance of a decent life total.
The film was very poor in the overseas market and will struggle to get a decent living overall there.
