Has Shraddha Kapoor’s ‘Naagin’ Trilogy been put on hold?

Vishal Furia directed the Naagin trilogy starring Shraddha Kapoor as a naagin, a shape-shifting serpent, produced by Nikhil Dwivedi.

Shraddha, who was on Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 list in 2014 and was featured by Forbes Asia in their 30 Under 30 list of 2016, is well known for Ek Villain, Baaghi 3, ABCD 2, Stree, Ek Villain Returns and others .

Given the box office lows, reports suggest it was put on hiatus for a while. It would have heavy visual effects and was slated for release this summer. The announcement related to Kapoor’s role was made in 2020. The delay behind it is due to the budget as per the source.

“Naagin is a visually-rich film that needed to be made on a huge budget. Given the current dry spell in the market, manufacturers want to keep the project and revisit it later. The film was supposed to be released in May, but stakeholders felt it was best to wait. If so, the film will continue after the release of the next yet untitled Shraddha film starring Ranbir Kapoor,” Mid Day said quoting a source.

The source added, “The film was supposed to be released in May, but stakeholders felt it was best to wait. If necessary, the film will continue after the release of the next yet untitled Shraddha film starring Ranbir Kapoor.
